Transitioning from struggling with aging to riding your journey with pride, self-esteem, confidence and joy!
When you are around your 70s, you might notice some changes in your body. Maybe a bit more stiffness in the mornings, feeling some aches, pains and/or other issues you never felt before. Maybe feeling a bit more vulnerable, feelings of anxiety and/or loneliness are creeping around the corner?
In our search for comfort, we might not always take the best approach to get us out of these feelings. However, just noticing is already a first step for change.
Spending time on our yoga mat is not just about exercising, gaining strength and flexibility. For me, it is so much more. I’ve changed my breathing pattern, I’ve developed body and mind awareness, and after a few minutes on my mat, my body responds with a few big yawns, which is an indication that my nervous system is relaxing.
I’ve learned to transform from struggling with my aging journey to riding this journey with pride, self-esteem, confidence and joy, and I’m eager to share my experience and knowledge with you.
This doesn’t mean that I can solve all your physical and mental problems; the only one who can make changes happen is you. What it does mean is that we can make a lot of improvements to our situation, with awareness we can develop more strength and resilience, prevent injuries, and we can learn to find joy in even the smallest things, as long as we allow ourselves to see these.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Welcome to my website. I’m Mary and as a Yoga Teacher (500hrs) and a TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) I'm passionate to share my knowledge about the effects of aging and improvements we can make to live our lives as fully and joyful as possible, physically, mentally and emotionally.
I'm Dutch and I feel blessed to live partly in the Netherlands and partly in the Scottish Highlands, where my husband’s ancestors came from. We live our lives fully and are grateful for the miracles that crossed our path. Through yoga and TRE I’ve build flexibility, strength and resilience to guide me along obstacles I’ve met in life.
After completing my Master's in Sociology in 1991, I was drawn to a more Eastern way of thinking and started to study Chinese language, culture and literature. I completed this with a Master in 2006. During my studies I started to practise Yoga and fell in love with it, I then joined a 500-hr yoga teacher training at the Yoga Academy Netherlands in Amsterdam, which I completed with a certificate in 2015 and as such I am a member of the Dutch Yoga Association. I've joined many yoga workshops and trainings on several subjects like face yoga, pelvic floor, breast care, fascia, relaxing the nervous system etc. In February 2024 I received my certification on Yoga for Posture Improvement.
Since 2024 I work as a certified TRE (trauma & tension release) provider. I've experienced that this method really helps to face our daily challenges.
I’m curious and excited to meet you!
"You're as old as your spine is flexible”, an ancient yogi quote which reveals a lot of our physical well-being when we’re getting older, but that’s not the whole story. Our fascia, healthy feet and more are also to be taken care of if we want to age healthy and joyfully.
During our aging journey we already might have noticed some changes in our bodies. We’re loosing height, we might experience a bit more stiffness, more aches and pains etc. But also we can feel sometimes a bit more vulnerable, maybe experiencing feelings of loneliness, anxiety or stress.
I’ve experienced these feelings myself and for me, mindful yoga and TRE were very helpful to address these feelings and to build more emotional strength and resilience.
My mindful yoga aging classes are focussed just on both aspects:
We’ll practise yoga, respecting where we are at this moment, meaning that we’re recognising our bodies limitations and work with softness to explore our boundaries. In our practise we nourish every tiny part of our external body and our internal body as well.
Through practicing mindfulness in our yoga sessions, we’ll learn a deep appreciation and self-love, we’ll notice our thinking patterns, by which we’re getting stronger and more resilient from within.
In these mindful yoga classes, we’ll need an open mind
Two blocks or books
A yoga strap
A small cushion
One or two blankets
And anything which makes you feel comfortable.
BOOK YOUR TRE SESSION, private or a group teaching session and let's start shaking
Tension and trauma releasing exercises, TRE is a method to help let go of deep-seated muscles tension, we often build up by fatigue, stress and/or trauma. These exercises are a safe and natural way to release stuck emotions/energy we often hold in our bodies. TRE can even loosen up places where massage can’t reach.
Yoga and TRE are going hand in hand and for me that was an amazing discovery. Many of us are already familiar with the benefits of yoga but most of us never heard about TRE.
So what is TRE?
TRE is a safe way to release tension in our bodies, tension that maybe have been building up during the years. But TRE is also a helpful tool to deal with the daily things in life we bump into and that could give us feelings of unease, fear, frustration, irritation etc. If we take care of our bodies in a simple effective way and be able not to let something small build up to something big, how much easier would our lives then be? The aim of TRE is to soften the body, to release these held tensions and to bring the body back to its natural state, which means into a balance where all systems are working in harmony. With TRE we are not going into the reason why the tension was build up, we’ll only work with the body, which makes it safe to practise.
BOOK YOUR TRE infused Yoga SESSION, private or a group session and enjoy the release of tension and loosening the body
In these yoga sessions we use asana's to invite the movements to come in and to prepare our body for letting go of any tension as well as to loosen our fascia.
PLEASE NOTE: For a safe practise, joining these TRE infused yoga sessions, you first need to become familiar with the TRE practise itself. It is advisable to take about 4 TRE training sessions, which you can book private or by joining a group session. Please check the schedule for the group training sessions. For the private session, please use the schedule to make an appointment. The sessions will take about 75 minutes.
